 Dominique and Linda come from diversely different backgrounds – nationally, culturally, emotionally, and spiritually. A French citizen, Dominique grew up on the southern coast of France in the city of Montpellier; just a few miles from the beautiful beaches of the Mediterranean Sea. His father’s position as professor of ancient Greek at the university led to family vacations in Greece, and travel throughout much of Europe. Graciously hosting foreign students in their home in an effort to influence their children to openly accept all races, Dominique’s family now reaps the benefits. Dominique married an American, one sister married a German, another married an African, while another lives near Spain. Enjoying his closely-bonded family throughout his childhood, Dominique had no idea the environment of European traditions in religion and education that surrounded him would one day be the strongest influence keeping him from discovering the truth of Jesus Christ.Linda was raised on a chicken farm near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, in a family whose bonds were mostly related to surviving the anger of her violent father. Two events would completely change the course of her life: her dramatic conversion to believe in Jesus Christ when a sophomore in college, and a year’s study in France where she met Dominique. They were married in America, after Dominique completed his Chemical Engineering degree in 1972. Linda’s first task was to teach Dominique English, and later the reverse – teaching French to their two children. Now they’re all bilingual, but the years of cross-cultural experience have only added to Dominique and Linda’s abilities to find humor in life and learn how to laugh at themselves. Living in France for three years, and continuous travel throughout Europe and America has allowed Dominique and Linda to see life from a fresh perspective. Many of the things you and I take for granted have a whole new value, when viewed through the eyes of one seeing them for the very first time. The insights gained through these experiences have added unusual personal depth to their skills as communicators and teachers. From the time of salvation, Dominique and Linda have been diligent students of the Bible. They have engraved into their lives a daily personal program of meditation in the Scriptures which has cut its design across every task: first as husband and wife, then as parents, employees, teachers, friends, and church leaders. They continue to marvel at the power of God’s Word to remold and reshape life, as they submit themselves to the Holy Spirit’s guidance. Moving often because of Dominique’s job in business management, their work in various churches has included being Junior and Senior High Youth Directors, Assistant Christian Education Director, Worship and Praise Leader, Fellowship Director, Church News and Print Editor, and Sunday School Teachers. They have formed Bible studies for men and women wherever they have lived, in their home and in the community. Linda has also organized Women’s Retreats, and created and coached a Youth Drama Team. Perhaps Linda’s greatest joy is training others to improve their skills as leaders and presenters. Their experience in this leadership has led Dominique and Linda into an active speaking and writing ministry which they call Image Ministries, founded on II Corinthians 3:18, “We all, with unveiled face beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as from the Lord, the Spirit.” Saved by Jesus Christ from drugs, sexual immorality, and physical and mental abuse, Dominique and Linda deeply understand the freedom and forgiveness they have been given by God’s Spirit. Speaking through them, God opens eyes and breaks away chains, helping others to find this freedom and forgiveness. |
